Hunslet 0-6-0 Newstead - Transport

Donation protected
Once upon a time, there was a little steam engine called 'Newstead'. She was discovered in a convent in Hertfordshire by a group of railway enthusiasts, who intend to restore her. The full story of this remarkable discovery can be seen in this video:

Now that Newstead is safe at her new home, we need to raise the money to pay for the cost of transport. Calkeld Heavy Haulage Limited, who transported Newstead, have been very good to us, giving up three days of their time and cancelling other work in order to ensure that Newstead was transported safely. We want to repay the favour by ensuring they receive the full amount we owe them in a timely fashion. This is where we need your help.

We need to urgently raise £3360 in order to cover the cost of Calkeld's invoice. By giving whatever you can afford, you will be helping us to pay this off so that we can start the task of restoring Newstead to full working order.

If you aren't able to give any money directly, please share our campaign on social media and help us to raise the much needed funds we require by spreading the word.

Thankyou for your help!

UPDATE - 22.06.2016

Work on Newstead's restoration has begun! We have removed all of her fittings and lifted her cab, tank and boiler off for examination. The next task will be to assess the condition of her boiler and any additional restoration work that needs to be carried out.
