NHS Wrestling / Fundraising Campaign

Dear Newtown Wrestling Families, Alumni & Friends -

The NHS Nighthawks are gearing up for our 2023/24 season. Last year, we had a very successful campaign, including a 17-2 dual record, 3rd place at CT State Opens out of 92 Teams & 15th place at the New England Championships out of 167 teams. We also had 7 Academic All-State Awards & 5 National Academic All-Americans!

As a pre-season update, Newtown has 6 wrestlers ranked in the Top 12 across New England and 4 wrestlers that made the New England "Pound For Pound" Top 20 ranking for each graduation class. Newtown is also ranked the #10 Tournament Team across 167 teams in New England!

While the HS covers most of our costs, we are asking for donations to support the following:

Team Video Camera – College coaches are asking for recruiting videos. We would like to buy a stand-alone camera to film all varsity matches. The school has purchased a subscription to HUDL software so that our coaches can review film and our wrestlers can send to college coaches.

Travel Tournaments – In addition to our tough tournament schedule, we have been invited to Beast of the East and Eastern States, which are two of the most prestigious high school events. We are also planning to send 10+ wrestlers and 2 coaches to the HS Nationals in Virginia Beach this April. These tournaments require hotel stays for our coaching staff.

Coaching Support – In addition to our head coach, we have hired two assistant coaches, including a strength & conditioning coach. Our team has literally doubled in size with an active roster of 34 wrestlers. With high school coach salaries being so meager, we would like to subsidize their salaries a little bit for the countless hours of practice and months of weekend competitions, including 4 new JV tournaments we added this year.

All donations will be administered by the board of the Nighthawk Wrestling Booster Club. 100% of the funds will benefit our wrestlers and all gifts are tax deductible. Our non-profit EIN# is 87-1420196.
