Update from Shannon Nov 25
I wanted to give an update on John Newton. We have so much to be thankful for! His body has made a remarkable recovery. More than one doctor told him they didn't think he would survive and certainly not without major brain damage. He still has some physical recovery to go but we are so encouraged by his progress. The VA hospital approved him to go to a special PTSD rehab for first responders and military and I was able to take him there today. Thank you Brimmage Silver and Tom Farley for helping to pave the way! We are unsure how long he will be there but are hoping for at least 90 days possibly followed by a VA program. Please know that it is because of all of you who donated that we are able to allow him that time to heal and grow. We are so humbled and blessed by all of you. God definitely has a plan for John and we are so excited for our future.
From Shannon, John’s wife, an update on John today 20 NOV 22:
He had a much better day today. His mind is clearer and he is walking without a walker. His fine motor skills have been affected. He needs a lot of help with tasks. I just got to the hotel and took a long shower and getting in bed now. The dr told him today that nobody thought he was going to make it and he is truly a miracle case. Thank you for all of the prayers and donations. We still have months to go in his recovery but I am very hopeful.
I’m Cynthia Newton, John Newton’s sister. John’s in the hospital. We don’t know the extent of his possible brain injuries. He has a long road ahead of him. I’m asking for your help for my brother and his family. My brother survived. For confidentiality purposes, this is what needs to be known. However, this is going to be a long journey with a future of uncertainty for him and his family. Without him able to work, it’s going to make their living situation very difficult. John, a VMI Keydet, served in the Army in the 3rd 75th Ranger Battalion for 10 years before becoming an officer where he served as a sniper platoon leader in Iraq. He lives in Chicago area with his wife and three children. Please help and share this on your social media. Thank you.
