Piece of Mind Film Fund - Next Take

Hello, we are Next Take, a new organisation dedicated to filmmaking projects, specifically working with young people from diverse backgrounds. We teach filmmaking skills and build confidence through practical, hands-on experience. Our organisation and projects are driven by young people, and the work we create is truly theirs. It’s essential to us that they have real ownership of the finished products.
Our goal is to help them realise their creative potential, using what they learn to pursue careers in the film industry if they choose. We also focus on building confidence and social skills, ensuring that even if filmmaking isn’t their chosen path, they gain valuable communication abilities that will benefit them in whatever direction they take in life.
We are currently working on a short film with support from Screen Scotland and North Ayrshire Council, involving a group of young people aged 14 to 25. The group includes individuals from various schools, colleges, universities, and the New Scots Community. Many of them were part of the short film Different Ways, created last year, and following its success, it felt only natural for us to move forward and take on new challenges.
Our project started in February, and since then, our group has written an original short film script that tackles a range of topical and important themes. The story is set in a fictional town with a unique culture, exploring how the characters feel and how they are affected by it. We’re really excited to bring this to life, as production is now underway!
Synopsis: The town of Kilbron and its residents have a long-standing tradition, but this year, things are set to change. As this isolated rural village faces the pressures of the modern age, the relevance and value of its cherished festival come into question.
As we move into production, we’ve been fortunate to receive funding from Screen Scotland, but to bring this truly exciting and unique project to life, we’re kindly asking for any donations you can spare. Contributions will go towards production costs, travel, food during shoots, and equipment.
Once the film is completed, we will screen it and submit it to film festivals. If you’re able to donate, we’ll keep you updated throughout the entire process, and you’ll receive exclusive access to the finished product to see what we’ve created. In the meantime, feel free to check out some of our work so far, as well as our previous projects.
