Help Nexus SLO recover from flood damage
Donation protected
On January 9, 2023 during the unprecedented rain storm on the Central Coast, the basement of the SLO public market flooded causing extensive damage to the Nexus SLO Dance Studio, including irreparably destroying the centerpiece of the studio, their expensive high-quality custom hardwood dance floor. This was a devastating blow not only to this new and growing business but also to the larger dance community. Unfortunately, insurance will not cover any of the damage from this natural disaster, which has left Nexus SLO having to cover the entire cost of replacing the floor and repairing all other damage themselves.
Anyone who knows the owner of Nexus SLO, Alicia Portillo, knows that she has passion and love not only for dancing but also for the many wonderful people she's met through the common drive to come together and share the love of dancing and community. She has put her heart and soul into the studio, sacrificing many hours to help the teachers and students at Nexus grow and develop their own styles of dance and foster valuable friendships in the process.
Creating a dance studio where all dancers can come together and share their passion for dance was Alicia's lifelong dream. That dream was realized in March 2022 when Nexus SLO opened its doors to the world with a fantastic grand opening night attended by dancers throughout the community. Since that day, Nexus has provided weekly classes in a variety of dance styles, as well as hosting many special events.
We now have the opportunity to come together and support Alicia, and Nexus. Nexus was truly designed to bring us all together, so let us join together to help bring it back to the wonderful studio we know and love. Any help to achieve this would be greatly appreciated.
