Smile Again: Urgent Dental Surgery and Dentures Needed

Hello, my name is Paulette, and I am a Psychotherapist and Mental Health Counsellor based on the Sunshine Coast in Queensland, Australia. I have the privilege of working alongside a wonderful charity, supporting individuals facing difficult life challenges to help them rebuild and thrive.

Today, I am reaching out to support Mark, a young man who has been a client of mine and is in a deeply challenging situation. Mark is dealing with a serious dental crisis that, without help, will be impossible for him to manage on his own. Severe tooth decay has left him in constant pain, unable to eat properly, and deeply self-conscious. Mark also struggles with severe anxiety and panic attacks, which means that any dental procedure would require anaesthetic for him to undergo it safely.

We have explored government-supported dental treatment, but the waitlist is currently over two years. I believe, as his therapist, that waiting this long isn’t viable for Mark’s mental or physical well-being, so I am starting this GoFundMe campaign to help him receive the urgent care he needs.

Here’s what we hope to achieve with your help:

Removal of Mark’s teeth under safe sedation to alleviate his daily pain and prevent further infection.

Provision of dentures to restore his ability to eat comfortably, speak clearly, and smile with confidence—enabling him to seek employment and reconnect with life fully.

With your generosity, this life-changing procedure could be a reality for Mark in the near future, allowing him to face the new year with a renewed sense of dignity and hope.

Finally, my purpose in life is to empower as many people as possible to realise their full potential, so they, in turn, can inspire and uplift others. Was it mere chance that Mark came into my life, allowing me to guide him on his journey? I don’t believe so! I see it as a calling—a reminder that we are all interconnected and meant to be of service to one another. When I give to others, it fills me with a deep sense of purpose, joy, and gratitude—a profound feeling that goes beyond words.
