Help Ukrainian refugees in Poland
Donation protected
Dear friends,
A good friend from Warsaw asked me to help with fundraising for Ukrainian refugees in Poland that he is helping find accommodations and get on their feet. Since GoFundMe is not yet supported in Poland, I started this international campaign in Canada. The donations (in $ CAD) are transferred to the bank account of SEDNO, the organization he is working with in Poland. Please read this message from Ania, his Ukrainian employee and one of the organizers:
"My name is Ania Vyslotska; I come from Ukraine and have lived in Warsaw, Poland, for three years. From the first day of Putin's aggression in Ukraine, we have dealt with a massive influx of refugees from my country. Mainly women and children, and the number of refugees is increasing daily. With the team of people from the cafe where I work in Międzylesie (suburbs of Warsaw), within two weeks, we have built a network of people of good heart, and we welcome refugees to our homes. We currently have seven independent houses and seven rooms in apartments, where 15 Ukrainian families found refuge (43 people out of about 2 million). They are only women with children. The refugees found a roof over their heads and food on the table in these lodgings. The closest to us, on Wielostronna Street, in a house that has been empty for several years, we managed to start all installations, buy a washing machine and at the moment three siblings from Zaporozhye live there: Ira (age 26), Anastazja (age 24) their two children Dima (age 3), Kristina (age 6) and brother Sasha (age 16), who look after young children when the sisters go out to look for work.
The list of our places can be viewed here:
At the moment, all sites are free of charge.
The situation is very demanding and challenging. We need support for our hosts, who bear the costs of hosting the refugees, as well as for Ukrainian families. These Ukrainian families have left everything at home. All their belongings are a suitcase or a plastic bag and a mobile phone. They require vital necessities, children need to go to school. Things that were obvious and simple have been lost.
We want to spend the collected funds on:
- food,
- hygiene products,
- medicines and medical care,
- clothes,
- school aids,
- possible participation in charges for electricity and other media of our hosts,
- adaptation of new quarters to accommodate new families
- rent contributions
- rent contributions
We are asking you for help. Any sums, large or small, will improve the tragic situation of Ukrainian refugees under our roofs. We will appreciate it if you decide to help on a regular basis. The crisis is growing, not slowing down. We also see so many devastated families that we could help, but we are unable to because we do not have the resources to do so.
We need your help so that the network of our homes and help for refugees increase. It is the best support for Ukrainian men who stayed behind.
The collected funds will be formally accounted by the local non-profit European Democracy - Hope and Openness Association SEDNO:

Thank you for your attention and support from all who are helping to create a substitute for normality for the refugees, because life for them begins with this substitute. I myself know perfectly well that building a new life in a new country is a process, not a moment."
