Let me introduce you to my niece Emily. Emily is one of the most beautiful and kindhearted people you will ever meet. She was always a happy upbeat 17 year old that wears her heart on her sleeve. Emily has two brothers Sebastian 19 and Matthew 15 that were both diagnosed with juvenile diabetes as children. She always believed that she was blessed and tried to live a healthy life. Even becoming a vegetarian for the past several years.
On September 26 she was diagnosed with an immature teratoma on her ovary. The doctor scheduled surgery 3 weeks later on October 15 to remove the cancer along with her right ovary and fallopian tube. We were told it was going to be performed laparoscopically and she would go home the same day with 3 rounds of chemotherapy to follow. To our shocking surprise the cancer had rapidly spread inside of our beautiful angel. She ended up with a 12 inch incision from her breast bone to her pelvic bone. The cancer was so aggressive she was admitted to the hospital and started chemotherapy immediately spending a total of 12 days in the hospital.
Today was the last day of her first cycle of chemo. Up until today she has been in pretty good spirits for someone going through what no person especially a child should have to endure. This morning she realized her hair started to fall out by the handful and even then was laughing and being her silly self. Then unfortunately this evening she developed a high fever and was admitted back to the hospital. That was hard for her to handle.
Emily does have insurance and most of her hospital bills are being taken care of. Emily had to quit her job that she loved due to her illness. Any donations will be for whatever necessities she will need during her healing process.
Thank you to everyone for all the prayers, texts, calls and well wishes. They mean more then you will ever know. Please continue to keep this amazing young woman in your prayers!
