We are a small school of about 160 students operating now in the Ngando sub-slum in Nairobi, Kenya.
Father Antipas and Nancy Wayende and their staff of teachers established one of the leading grade schools among these slum and sub-slum communities, and always show leading test scores during national examinations each year. They are a major contributor to their community, and daily meal, a daily place of scholarly and spiritual learning, and a place of a hopeful future for a student body who loves them.
Last October, we were located in the Dagoretti community, but on the 1st, the Kenya Railways Company under armed escort from the Kenyan government entered Dagoretti unannounced and razed the entire town, including the original site of our school. 3000 homes and 200 small peddling and service businesses were lost. This was done during a pandemic, in a place where economics on a "normal" day is one of the worst situations in the world.
Through donations from good people and generous hearts, we were able to relocate to Ngando relatively quickly, but because the Kenyan economy has been so adversely affected by pandemic restrictions, people who were already living on just a few shillings a day are struggling to eat and send their children to school.
The tuition for students is just $10 USD per month, but a large percentage of their parents cannot pay. We turn no child away who cannot pay and seek the support of kind hearts to help us keep the school open.
Please consider a donation, or perhaps sending just $10 a month for a child who can't pay. Please remember us in your prayers, and consider sharing this fundraiser and the mission it seeks to preserve.
Proverbs 19:17: Whoever is generous to the poor lends to the Lord, and he will repay him for his deed.
Proverbs 22:9: The generous will themselves be blessed, for they share their food with the poor.
May God bless and keep you all.
