My Sister Rita Sinon Barrett

My sister Rita was very recently diagnosed with pancreatic                cancer. She immediately                   underwent bilary stent surgery     to open a blocked bile duct. She   has a relatively large cancerous  mass on the head of the pancreas.  She will be starting chemother-
apy on September 8th.  If all goes well, she may be a candidate for
surgery to remove the mass after the chemo.

In addition to the cancer, Rita has a severe corn allergy. Navigating 
the hospital with a corn allergy is particularly harrowing. Corn
lurks in everything from the hand
sanitizer (made from corn
ethanol), To pills (made with corn starch as filler), to IV solutions
(made with dextrose), just to
name a few. So far the doctors
have been unable to find a pain
medication or an anti-nausea
medication that will not trigger   her allergy. Anaphylaxis is a real
and constant threat. 

Rita will soon be faced with astronomical COBRA              premiums to cover her                        treatment. She has been out of work and will be unable to return for the next three months while she undergoes intensive chemotherapy.

I need your help to help my sister.She has a long hard road ahead    and needs to focus on her health,
rather than being worried about paying the bills. 

She wants to have the chance to be a grandmother to her new
grandson, Malcom. She wants to  continue to be the mom,                   daughter, sister and friend that   we all know and love.
