Hi! My name is Buster! I was adopted on June 23, 2016 by my amazing pawrents. I came from the same shelter as my brother Andy. When my pawrents first saw me, they fell head over heels in love. They discussed adopting me with my brother Andy and he barked his approval. I love jumping and snuggles but hate loud noises and car rides. I was a transfer from another shelter outside the state so there was no background on my missing eye but the shelter vet thought it looked fine and said I was healthy. For a whole year, I have gotten lots of lovings, snuggles, yummy food, walks and adventures with my pawrents and brother.
My pawrents found a lump under my ear in May 2017 and took me to the vet. The vet misdiagnosed me (lymphoma) but referred us to specialists at our local Blue Pearl who found out it was a soft tissue sarcoma tumor. It is technically cancer but it's very slow growing and usually contained to the localized tumor. Surgery is the best option and can be curative if they get it all out. Getting it out can be tough though and they'll have to take out a margin around the tumor to get everything out. If they don't get it all out, it'll regrow. They think it could even be a regrowth related to my missing eye.
I am going for the CT scan of my head and the chest x-rays today (Monday). Those will show them if the tumor spread, where the roots are, and how much they'll have to take out. Then my surgery will be July 3 and I'll have to stay there for a couple days to recover. The scans and the surgery will all be at the Blue Pearl Hospital in Overland Park KS.
I'm a little scared of having the surgery, but I know that I have the best family ever and they will do what it takes to take care of me. I also have an amazing family on IG and especially all of the #grumpybeaglesunited pups. Me and my family appreciate any help that can be given to us. Surgery is very expensive, but my pawrents want what's best for me. After they remove the tumor, I will have a very long, happy life!
Thank you all my friends for your love, support, well wishes and donations! I lubs you!!!!!
