Sherri Blakely

My name is Charlotte Peak and this story is about My friend... Sherri Blakely.  I met her in 2008 when I became active in the Ocoee Region Builders Association.  She practically ran that association and was the "face" of ORBA!  We became instant friends because Sherri is a friendly person.  "Proverbs 18:24 A man that hath friends must shew himself friendly..."  She exemplifies the meaning of friendship.  I learned a lot about life at that time just by watching hers.  She always fought adversities head on and never let obstacles get her down.  She taught me about life in more ways than one and She has so many friends that will tell you the same thing.  She makes every friend feel special and is always the life of the party.  

Everyone in the Building industry including builders, suppliers, and banks knows who Sherri Blakely is.  She organized fund raisers for every imaginable cause, helped build houses for Habitat for Humanity, and helped build handicap ramps for community outreach programs. In her spare time, she taught Zumba classes, golfed, played racket ball, and did personal training.  She is the most all around athletic person that I know.   She always did it "all". ... until now.

In February 2014 Sherri was diagnosed with a mixed brain tumor called Oligoastrocytoma and Oligodendroglioma.  She has had brain surgery and chemo treatments. Her most recent trip to the specialist in NC revealed that the tumor is still growing and she will go back on Chemo treatments maybe as soon as Monday January 18, 2016.  This will make her very sick again and she will be unable to work.  I don't think I have to explain that cancer can not only be devastating to your body but can also rob you of your finances. 

Sherri has always been a giver.  She has always helped the community and gave above and beyond what she has. She has raised thousands of dollars for charities over the years and raised people's spirits as well.  I've never heard her complain and through it all she Praises the Lord above for everything.  She never asks for help and would probably hurt me if she knew I was doing this now.  She always says there are more less fortunante people than she is and she won't feel sorry for herself.
And that is the true Sherri Blakely that I know.... selfless, modest and giving.  She has always given more of herself than has been returned so I think it is time that OUR Community give back to her for a change and help her with expenses while she goes through this battle.  I hope we exceed this goal and she won't have to worry about how she will make it financially while she goes through another round of chemo.  I also hope that she gets to do something fun for herself for a change. 
Please join me in supporting Sherri Blakely!  Let's show her that Cleveland TN, Charlotte NC, and Louisville KY love her and appreciate her.  She has touched so many lives with her own.... Isn't it time we touch hers.
