NHCC Higher Education Fund
NHCC (newhopeforcambodianchildren.com) is an orphanage that cares for more than 230 children living with HIV/AIDS founded by Kathy and John Tucker. As most of you know, I volunteered at NHCC for 2 years teaching 1st Graders which was a life changing experience for me that has made a significant impact. These children made me realize that teaching is what I was meant to do in my life. Therefore, after returning to Los Angeles, I decided to pursue a teaching career in LA. I am finishing up my 2nd year at an AMAZING school, Sunrise Elementary, teaching 13 wonderful special needs children who I adore and will be heading back to NHCC on June 11th.
Kathy and John's focus on education for their children carries over after they leave NHCC. They are well cared for while they attend either university or vocational school and are housed in one of two New Hope Houses in Phnom Penh with caregivers.
$500 pays for a semester’s tuition (excludes housing, medication, etc.) for one child at university and $300 for a semester’s tuition for one child at vocational school. My goal is to fundraise enough to support 4 students’ university tuition. A $5 or $10 donation would make a significant impact. Most of you know from my past fundraisers is that all donations go directly to the children.
I know many of you have other financial obligations and other organizations that you support, so if you are not able to donate, I completely understand. However, if you would share this link I would greatly appreciate it.
