NHD State Fair Cost

Hello, my name is Juliet Dalton and I am in 8th grade. Along with my friends, Carrie Lu and Emma Grant, I participated in the Contra Costa County history day fair as part of the NHD 2018 theme of conflict and compromise. We were inspired by the modern feminist movement for equal pay and against sexual harassment and chose second wave feminism as our topic. While first wave feminism in the early 20th century focused on mostly legal issues, second wave feminism brought more social change, much like today's movement. 

We were all very dedicated to this project and put a lot of effort in it. In the county fair, we came 1st in the Junior group documentary division. From there, we moved on to the California state competition. We were thrilled to learn this, but once we learned of the cost, our smiles faltered: without hotel fees, food and gas money, it will cost over 700 dollars for us to go to Sacramento for the competition.
