NHS Blood & Transplant Charity - Ironman 2024

Hi all,

As some of you may know I lost a very close friend of mine Matthew earlier in the year to a shock incident on a night out. I had initially met Matt on my first day of university in Aberdeen in a cramped lift with my parents. As the years passed Matt had become one of my best mates, getting close with my friends and family. We shared great moments together both in the UK and overseas, memories I will cherish forever.

Shortly before Matt had passed away he had made the decision to become an organ donor for his own personal reasons, unbeknown to him the impact this would have. After we received the devastating news, we found out that his decision to become a donor had helped change the lives of 4 individuals through transplants. Hearing this both moved me and inspired me to do something to honour Matt and his decision.

This ultimately led me to challenging myself to complete a full length Ironman to raise money for the NHS Blood & Transplant Charity. The race consists of a 2.4 mile swim, 112 mile cycle and a 26.2 mile run. This is a humongous task starting with no experience but I am excited to challenge myself and raise money for such a great cause.
