NHS D & G For the Love of Scrubs / The Rotary Club of Dumfries
In response to the national call for the need for Scrubs for the NHS and to also support the need for scrubs, pyjama's and wash bags for key workers across our whole healthcare network in the region, NHS D &G For the Love of Scrubs was established at the beginning of this month. It has rapidly grown to a group with 720 members, with a lead coordinator, 17 cluster coordinators and 6 admin coordinators looking after a legion of sewers, knitters, and crochet people.
The first batch of scrubs that have been made will be delivered to DGRI on Monday 20 April. Since 3 April 1140 wash bags have been made and delivered.
To meet the requests to date coming from our front line in D and G, the group need to make 940 pairs of scrubs, 2037 frontline healthcare wash bags, and 282 pairs of pyjama bottoms, 232 pyjama tops, 150 nighties, for patients. These request totals are increasing on a daily basis.
Between Sunday 12 and Monday 13 April The Rotary Club of Dumfries, in conjunction with The Rotary Club of Dumfries Devorgilla, Castle Douglas, Dalbeattie, Kirkcudbright, Thornhill, Lockerbie and Annan donated £1200 which was immediately used to source material. This has already been received and distributed into the sewer's network.
The Rotary Club Of Dumfries is now working with NHS D & G For the Love of Scrubs to support the fundraising element so that they can concentrate on getting the PPE made and out
to our frontline healthcare workers.
A great network has been put in place but to support all these fantastic sewers and knitters we need to keep them supplied. Donations have been received of material etc but in simple terms:
- If you don't have material to donate.
- If you can't sew or knit
but would like to support this tremendous effort then please consider a donation, no matter the size and it will go directly into purchasing materials for making more scrubs and PPE for our fantastic frontline healthcare workers.
