NHS Neurological Rehab Centre fundraiser
Donation protected
Hi, I'm fundraising for Langley House NHS Neurological rehabilitation centre in Watford, for my Dad who sadly passed away on 16th February 2023.
On 28th February 2022 dad suffered a stroke at home caused by a blood clot in his brain, then had a second stroke caused by a bleed whilst he was in hospital. After being discharged from hospital he spent some time being cared for at Langley House before being transferred to an independent specialist nursing home in Peterborough where he spent the remaining months of his life, as he needed 24hr care.
The staff at Langley House were fantastic. These specialist places have long waiting lists as we found out. Dad was stuck in hospital for much longer than he should have been whilst waiting for a place to become available. These residential centres are few and far between and simply do not get the funding they desperately need, so that is why I've chosen Langley House as my charity for 2023, as well as to recognise the wonderful care provided by the staff, and for my Dad.
On 28th February 2023, which will be exactly a year since dad suffered the stroke, I successfully completed another 100km distance challenge. This was an indoor challenge. I used a combination of treadmill, cross trainer and bike in the gym, split between each machine to complete 100km.
In addition to this, on 27th May I'm taking part in another London to Brighton 100km on foot from Richmond to Brighton.
Please give whatever you can to help raise much needed funds for this essential facility. A loved one may be referred to their care some day, you never know what's round the corner. A stroke can happen to anyone in the blink of an eye.
