Nic Dillon-Smith

Dear Friends,

As many of you know on June 24th, Nic Dillon-Smith was involved in an accident while jumping his dirt bike at a local motocross track. Nic sustained serious injuries including severe traumatic brain injuries. After he was stabilised at the scene and placed in an induced coma, Nic was flown to the John Hunter Hospital.

88 days after he was admitted to JHH, Nic was transferred to Royal Rehab in Ryde. They are a world leading brain rehab with only 16 traumatic brain injury beds. Nic still has a tracheotomy and cannot do anything for himself. However, Nic is more alert, can track you with his eyes and can hear you talk to him. It is a miracle that Nic has a position and we are believing for great progress in his recovery. It is an amazing place and does not look or feel like a hospital. Nic will have his own extensive medical, nursing and allied health team.

Many people have asked how they can help. We are hoping to raise funds to help Nic’s family, whose lives have been dramatically affected. We want to continue to offer Nic all the support he needs. Interestingly, in TBI (Traumatic Brain Injuries) specialist have informed us that a predictor for positive patient outcomes have been those with strong family support!
