Fundraiser: Lebanon Valley Mountain Bike Team

Hello friends, parents, and families!

My name is Molly Stager and I am helping the NICA-endorsed Lebanon Composite Mountain Bike Team (LVMTB) raise funds to support More Kids on Bikes! LVMTB is a composite team that just started. It includes kids in grades 6-12 from both the Lebanon and Cornwall-Lebanon school districts. LVMTB is unique because it unites kids from two different school districts; some of the student athletes represent significantly different socio-economic and cultural demographics. However, from the start, it was critical to the team’s coaches that all interested kids be able to participate, regardless of experience or family financial status. The team wants to help unite the overall community while spreading the love of biking!

As we all know, cycling is an expensive sport. There are significant costs associated with establishing a new team—gear for this season, of course, but also items to be re-used seasonally. While NICA charges each student athlete a fee of $200, none of that goes to the local team. But because LVMTB doesn’t want cost to be a barrier to entry, the coaches decided to eliminate any additional team-specific fees this year. While that makes joining the team more affordable for each student, it also means lost revenue to the team. Hence, the need to fundraise. While some of the coaches have invested seed money and some local sponsorships have been pledged, the team needs more help.

Specifically, this Go Fund Me is to help cover additional needs, such as:

- NICA registration for those that can't afford it ($200/student, we’d like to raise funds to be able to cover the fee for up to four students, if need be)

- Race registration for those that can't afford it ( $40/student, we’d like to raise funds to cover fees for up to four students, if need be)

- Bikes

- Team Toolset

- Team repair stand

- Radios for coaches

- Team canopy (two, preferably)

- Team clothing (jerseys, t-shirts)

- Coach reimbursements for training

- Portable tables for race days

- On-site storage shed/container or enclosed trailer

- Spare bike parts, tubes, etc.

- Race day food & drinks
