NicAbeja Proyecto - Beekeeping Kits
The NicAbeja Proyecto goal is to train beekeepers in Nicaragua.
Beekeeping is an inexpensive activity that doesn't require land or expensive start-up costs. The income ($360) from the sale of honey from just one beehive can double the annual income of a rural family.
With adequate training and support, a Nicaraguan man, woman or youth can become a beekeeper and supplement their family income.
A beekeeper starter kit costs about $150. This includes 2 box hive, 20 frames, colony of bees with queen, tools and supplement sugar feed.
NicAbeja Proyecto raised $3,600 in 2015 to provide 24 beekeeping starter kits to potential beekeepers in Nicaragua. We hope to raise another $3,600 in 2016 to continue providing beekeeping starter kits.
Thanks to your generosity we have raised over $12,000 in 2016, far surpassing our goal of $3,600. This will enable us to provide more beekeeping starter kits and have a bigger impact on beekeeping in Nicaragua and on family's finances.
The beekeepers will reimburse the cost of the kits once they sell their honey. These funds will be used to purchase beekeeping starter kits for new beekeepers. Thus the project will be sustainable.
Whether you donate $150 for a beekeeper starter kit or any other amount, your donation will be greatly appreciated.
Your donation is tax-deductible. The Nicaragua Bee Project is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization.
