Nice Premiere of New String Quartet

Hi! I'm Michael, and I'm an emerging young composer. If you haven't heard my music before, some of it features in the video above.

I've recently been given the opportunity to premiere a new string quartet in Nice, France as part of the Zodiac Festival.  

The event brings together talent from around the world for a two-week intensive music festival under the guidance of prominent industry professionals. During this time, I will form important creative and professional relationships that will help kick-start my career, and will also receive mentoring and tuition from faculty including Andrew List, Professor of Music at Berklee Conservatory.

My music will be workshopped by peers and faculty and premiered as part of a Gala concert on the 14th of July in Valdeblore.

I was fortunate to have had the opportunity to attend the New England Conservatory, from which I graduated in May with a Masters in Composition. This journey from Australia to the United States was only made possible by generous scholarships from the General Sir John Monash Foundation, New England Conservatory and the American Australian Association.

As I step out into the world as a young composer, it's critical that I take every possible opportunity to get my music out in the world, to grow, and to hone my skills – this would be my debut in Europe.

The cost of this undertaking for which I am seeking your support is $3750US. This breaks down as:
Festival room/board and tuition: $2500
Transportation and insurances: $1250

You would be supporting the creation of a new piece of music, the development of a young composer's career and ensuring the fine state of Western Australia is proudly represented abroad.
