Nice to Meet You - A Student Thesis Film

Hello everyone! This fundraiser was created by Jordan Rencher and Veronica Carr, in hopes of raising the funds to create our senior thesis short film! We are two students at Howard University, and with the help of your donation we will be able to bring our vision to life. Our goal with this film is to tell a dysfunctional family's all too familiar story. No family is perfect, but through this short film, we hope to share some of those vulnerable, uncomfortable, and loving moments with viewers and show them that sometimes the “what if” is a good thing. We aspire to create a film that will be competitive at regional and national film festivals and ultimately set ourselves up for success as we embark on our careers in the field of Television and Film after graduation! We hope you are just as excited as we are to create magic and touch our viewers' hearts.

About Our Film-

Nice to Meet You is a drama that follows 18-year-old Amelia as she meets her estranged half-brother for the first time and nothing goes the way she expects. After growing up with only her mom, alienated from her alcoholic father and older siblings, she learned to build up walls and say only what needed to be said. When she finally meets her brother Drew for the first time, she’s afraid he will be a direct reflection of her manipulative father. Will her brother be able to win her over with his natural charisma? Or is there too much dirt under the rug to ignore?

How your donation helps-

Your donation will be going towards securing locations for the film, purchasing equipment, providing food and beverage to the cast and crew, providing transportation for the cast and crew, purchasing props and costumes, and submitting to festivals for distribution and getting our film seen by as many people as possible!
