Niche for actress Dorothy Christy
Donation protected
I am Bob Satterfield, Grand Sheik Emeritus of the Way Out West Tent of the Sons of the Desert (the international Laurel and Hardy club). I've been involved in organizing many headstones and four niches for actors in Laurel and Hardy or Our Gang Comedies who have been unmarked or ashes unclaimed in the vaults over the years. Below is some information about this current campaign to get Dorothy Christy to a final resting place after over a century of being on a shelf in the vault. Won't you please help out?
Dorothy Christy Rucker. Laurel and Hardy fan’s remember Dorothy as Mrs. Laurel in Laurel and Hardy’s classic picture “Sons of the Desert”. A most memorable performance indeed. Dorothy has over 100 credits on IMDb. She appeared with Maurice Chevalier, Abbott & Costello, Will Rogers, Olson and Johnson, Gene Autry, Roy Rogers and Buster Keaton. Wikipedia says she was in the pre-filming stage version of “A Night at the Opera” with The Marx Brothers. She had quite a career in the business.
If you not have seen Arthur Dark’s amazing and informative video on The Chapel of the Pines, be sure to watch it soon. It gives the history of the Pines and tries to explain how over ten thousand remains are still in the vaults. You can watch the video with this link or Google “Opening the Vault: The Story of Chapel of the Pines”: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XimvnsLSt9c I am sure you will find it as fascinating as I did.
Thanks to the efforts of volunteer Jessica Wahl, Dorothy was found. With further investigating, Jessica retrieved Dorothy’s husband, Rollin Rucker as well. Of course, it is important that this couple are interred together. A generous donor took care of Rollin. This current campaign is to have Dorothy removed from the vaults and be placed in her own private niche, inside the actual Chapel. She will be near Wilfred Lucas, Tiny Sandford and Margaret Dumont who were beneficiaries of recent campaigns. Thank you again, to all who contributed to one or more these recent campaigns. I hope you may be able to help out in this current one. Please consider a donation of any amount to make this happen for Dorothy.
