Hi everyone!
My name is Nick. I’m 19 years old and a sophomore at Middle Tennessee State University. After MANY hours of intense practice and two pretty rigorous auditions I am now a member of the Cadets Drum and Bugle Corps.
I became a drummer because I had the greatest inspiration- my dad Dave Harrison. He is the most talented drummer and one of the best people I know. The love of music is in the Harrison DNA and I received those dominant genes. Both my mom and dad have taught me that art is important and they are both so proud that I have chosen to be an artist.
I was in marching band all through high school at Hillsboro and once I got to MTSU, where I am a music education major, I couldn’t wait to march with the Band of Blue. I am also now in my second year of marching with Audio Theater, a WGI indoor drumline.
Last summer, I had the opportunity to march with Pioneer Drum and Bugle Corps. I had an amazing season. I learned so much and I made friends whom I know I will have for my entire life, but I was still working for that dream I’ve had for so long and two weeks ago I achieved it. I am a member of the snare line at The Cadets.
So I’ve mentioned my parents, right…they are awesome and supportive and my best friends, but they have raised an expensive son and I can’t expect them to pay for my drum corps career especially while they are paying for college. My dad plays extra gigs and gives drum lessons and my mom does freelance writing and editing to help support what I do, but I have to ask for some additional financial help.
I have three more seasons I can march before I age out at 21. My Audio Theater indoor drumline tuition expenses are $1350 per season ($4050) and my Cadets drum corps tuition expenses are approximately $4200 per season ($12,600).
I am respectfully asking that you make a donation to my tuition expenses for my drum corps career. I love what I do- I mean I love every minute of it. I’m hard-working and totally committed to achieving everything in drum corps I can as part of my education. I’m asking you to invest in me. And with that investment I promise I will give back to those drummers who march after me.
Thank you all so much!! I love you and appreciate you and I can’t wait to share all of my experiences with The Cadets.
