Hi to all Nick’s family, friends and coworkers. As you know Nick is fighting for his life with Bacterial Meningitis, a sever type of infection that attacks the lining of brain or spinal cord. He is being kept unconscious to allow both his body and the medication to fight this infection. He has suffered several small strokes and permanent damage or not from them will not be known until he regains consciousness.
For those of you who don’t know me I met Nick shortly after he moved to New York. He made friends quickly with his outgoing infectious personality. I am sure that those of you have known him longer totally get what I’m saying. As New Yorkers tend to not have family close by our friends become our surrogate family, spending many holidays and a lot of time together. Nick has a large supportive “family” here in New York who love him dearly. He since has been a loving and close friend to me and to see him hooked up to so many machines just breaks my heart.
Thankfully Nick does have health insurance, unfortunately it will not cover all his expenses. Best case scenario he is expected to be in the hospital for at least two to three more weeks. Then he will need more time to recuperate. I have started this Go Fund Me page to help him with any extra medical and physical therapy expenses as well as his rent and other bills. The last thing I want him to have to worry about is money. He needs to concentrate on getting well and back to his life.
I will end this by asking you to donate whatever you can. No amount is too small. Please share this on your page to reach as many people as we can to help our dear family member/friend/coworker. I am sure I speak for all of us when I say “Nick you are loved and we are ALL here for you! Get better soon.” I miss you and can’t wait to see your sparkling eyes open again. I love you.
