This is My Story and My life,
My name is Nicholas Rowe, and I I come from the town of Karratha in the Pilbara region of Western Australia. (The home of Red Dog) I would like to take this opportunity to tell you about myself;
I turned 17 at the end of June 2015, I have been racing for the last 8 years of my life around Australia and recently Asia & America learning all that I can about what it take to become a Professional Race car driver and seeing whether or not I have what it takes to be successful in this highly competitive and somewhat expensive sport. I started racing karts in my home town at the age of 9 and with the dedication and support of my parents have spent the last 9 years of racing Karts all over Australia which included in 2013 I went to the Las Vegas, in the USA were I competed in one of the most prestige’s events out side of a world championship against current Indy car and Nascar drivers and at just 15 years of age became the first Australian and youngest person ever to win at the TAG Senior class of the Supernats, this becoming the greatest achievement of my career so far.
My family and I had decided that as I had achieved many (7) State Titles in 5 different states in karting including WA, NSW, TAS & Dual NT & Victoria Titles. I also became the first Western Australian and youngest person ever to named “Australian Karter of the Year” in both 2012, 2013.
So at this time we decided to have ago in another category of racing and at the age of 14 I made my debut in Formula Ford at a WA round of the V8 championship at Barbagallo . I found this a big step and loved the challenge so we made the move to the Formula Ford in the Victorian State Series were at my first event at Sandown Raceway which I had never been to before achieved my first Pole position and at just 14 years old and was crowned the winner of “Island Magic” at Philip Island in my final race of National Formula Ford championship and finishing 4th overall in the Series.
In mid 2014 my parents thought it would be good to try my hand at Speedway, changing from bitumen to dirt for the first time in Speedcars a move that would sharpen my skills and challenge me as a race car driver. My first season I won a Heat race in every state in Australia and became the youngest person ever to make the A main at the 74th Australian Speedcar title.
In 2015 we headed to ASIA to race Formula Masters China Series and have my first attempt at driving a car with wings and slicks and have so far finished on the podium 5 out of 9 starts. I am currently 3rd in the Championship with another 9 rounds to remaining.
I also went to America and competed in the USAC Midget Championship against some of the best driver in the USA and gained some very valuable experience in dirt driving and look forward to the 2015/16 season come September this year. I won WA Rookie of the Year 2014/15 and placed 5th in the Speedcar Pro Series and came 4th and 4th in the highly acclaimed 50 lap events held in both QLD and NSW.
It was here I found myself just a week ago given the chance to compete in the new future of Motorsport CAMS/FIA class of Formula 4 this class is new to Australia and is designed to connect us with rest of the world in becoming the road to F1.
I had not tested or driven in this type of car prior to the event held in Townsville as a support class to the V8’s recently and in the first round and as a last minute decision I competed in the event and finished 2nd overall in the round. I now stand only 1 point of the lead and have a very good chance at the championship and I hope to become the first driver to win this championship which with $150000.00 prize money for the winner of the Championship this would be the exactly what I need to help me follow my dreams towards becoming a professional race car driver.
I am aiming to get sponsorship to help me compete in remaining rounds of the series and becoming the first Formula 4 champion in Australia. As well as win the 2015 Formula Masters Championship, eventually moving up the ranks to one day Race V8 supercars or Indycar or even Nascar, So follow me and support me in anyway possible and I promise everytime i go out on the track I will give it 110% everytime.
