Our entire community suffered a tragic loss on April 11th, 2023 when Nicholas Booth and Will Hammitt were killed in a car crash on Old Gun Road in Midlothian, VA. These two young men were seniors at James River High School, the best of friends who wanted to do everything they could together. Their interests were varied but almost identical if you spent any time around either of them. They both had a profound love of animals, sports, specifically snowboarding, skiing, lacrosse, football, and basketball. They also loved poker, camping (Will begrudgingly camped as he knew he would have fun once there), music, friends, family, and their jobs as camp counselors at ACAC. These two never met a stranger that didn't become an instant friend. They had a bright future ahead with plans to further their education with the hopes to eventually end up at JMU together.
Funds raised here will help support both the Booth and Hammitt family during their time of grief. To help honor the lives of these two fun-loving, smart, and adventurous young men, the families plan to donate a portion to the boys' favorite charities.
