Nick Burt & Family Battle with Cancer
Donation protected
Nick once said, “Are you running from death or running towards life?”
Nick chose life even when he was diagnosed with Stage 4 Colon Cancer in February 2020. A battle that's been raging for the past two and a half years. Since the pandemic's start, he's been through isolation, chemo, so much chemo, and many surgeries. All of which have challenged the family in ways unimaginable to most of us.
Throughout this journey, there have been positive steps and beautiful moments of caring, compassion, and love. So much love. However, cancer has continued to progress, and the time has come to ask for help with the costs associated with treatment and in-home care. Your monetary support will give Nick's primary caregiver, his loving wife, Kate, a break so she can recuperate and spend time focusing on their family.
Fourteen years ago, Nick chose life. At the happiest moment, when Nick and Kate were expecting their first baby, they faced a challenge. That was the first go around when he was diagnosed with Hodgkin's Lymphoma and skin cancer. That was also a long battle with chemo, radiation, and surgery. One that he eventually beat and was blessed with many years of remission and two beautiful children.
To say that Nick is a warrior or that his family has been tested would be a gross understatement. He has been a hero throughout this battle, someone we could look up to and hope that we could show a fraction of his and the family’s strength if it were our own family under attack.
The meaning of KFG has changed throughout this long fight. Most recently, it has simply meant “be present.” That is extremely difficult in the midst of such a challenge.
The family is so thankful for the outpouring of support. Please understand they can’t respond to all of the love right now. The past two and a half years have drained them mentally, physically, and financially. The Burt family is asking for privacy at this time to be present. Please know how much they appreciate your love and support.
And remember, when faced with the question, are you running from death or running towards life, choose life. Always choose life.
