Greetings all, my name is Kevin Holland and I hope this message finds you in good health and happiness. I’m excited to announce that Ive been given the opportunity to compete in the 2021 Boston Marathon! The best part about it is I won’t be doing it alone. The Marine in this photo is Plymouth, MA native Nick Eufrazio and we’ll be competing as a duo wheelchair team. On 21 November 2010 Nick was providing rooftop security with his best friend Kyle Carpenter(Medal Of Honor recipient) in Marjah, Afghanistan. In the midst of a firefight an enemy grenade landed on the roof and Kyle shielded the blast from Nick. Both Marines were severely wounded and I met them on the rescue mission that ensued. Against all odds they both survived their injuries.
Nick and I were reunited in 2018 and reestablished the bond that’s been there since that fateful day in 2010. Turns out we both grew up in the Boston area and yes we’re New England sports fans! Nick has been through hell with his injuries and unfortunately that means his family must follow. This is the cost of freedom. Nick requires constant care and it’s a system that isn’t cheap and will carry for the remainder of his life. The sacrifices that Nick and his family are making are unmeasurable. This is a great opportunity for us as a community to be our brothers keeper and give support where it’s needed.
Originally, I was going to run by myself to raise money for Nick and his family but I made the mistake of asking a Marine if he’d like to compete in a challenge. Nick obviously said yes so here we are! I wouldn’t have it any other way. It doesn’t get better than pushing a modern day patriot across the finish line in his home state of MA.
Money isn’t everything but it sure does help! If you’re able to donate I ask that you please do.
