Nick Kampmann Cremation and Memorial Expenses

Donation protected
My name is Holly Rorie and I am a sibling of and was a primary caregiver for Nicholas Andrew Kampmann. Nick loved to talk and was a great storyteller. Anyone who knew him knows he always had something to say and would tell tall tales just to keep a conversation going. He was fun to be around and an all-around funny guy.

Throughout his life, Nicholas was a tree trimmer, a mechanic, and an asphalt repairman. His last job was at Rail Logistics in St. Louis, Missouri.

His favorite activities were fishing, BBQ, telling jokes, campfire stories, and shooting paintball guns. Nick loved to socialize and be around people.

The grill was his happy place.

After Nick was diagnosed with a rare aggressive form of vasculitis and endured kidney failure in 2014, his lifestyle changed drastically.

However, with the help of good neighbors and caring strangers, he kept on keeping on for nearly nine more years, whilst staying calm, and remaining good company.

When not socializing with others, Nick loved to eat pizza, watch the travel channel, and play games on his phone and computer. His favorite games to play were Doom, Command and Conquer, and Idle Miner.

He's preceded in death by his parents, grandparents, numerous relatives, peers, and friends. Nick did not marry, and he had no children, but he loved them! My kids were very fond of him.

He's survived by many aunts and uncles, several cousins, his two siblings, and a niece and nephew. Nick’s friends and loved ones plan to gather at a lake together and celebrate his memory by fishing and barbecuing. When and where is yet to be announced.

Memorials can be made to the family at Thomas Saksa Funeral Home in Granite City, Illinois.

Nick lost the battle against a triple infection during the hard-fought war against an aggressive form of vasculitis on January 15th, 2023 at 11:41 am. He had just turned 40 years old the day before. Nicholas didn’t have a life insurance policy, and the state can only assist with so much.

I’ve created this GoFundMe requesting financial assistance to be enabled to help grant his final wishes. Nick wanted to be cremated and for his ashes to be shared with his family and friends. Thanks for your consideration.

Furthermore, this link is to the documentation via photos from the beginning of Nick’s battle in 2014. As a participant in The Pexivas Study, Nick became a regular and made fast friends with everyone he encountered at Barnes Jewish Hospital, Barnes-Jewish Center for Advanced Medicine, and The Siteman Cancer Center in St. Louis, Missouri.

After spending many years walking the halls of these places with him, I can’t express my gratitude towards the staff and doctors enough, for all the aid they provided to help him continue to fight to live his life to the best of his abilities for as long as possible. Thank you all so very much! Thank you everyone for your time and attention. Your assistance is genuinely appreciated.

Thank you to all of my brother's keepers!

Nick made the world a better place in his own way.

Indeed, he was a gifted one.

Before Nick became too ill to move around on his own, he could be found tinkering under the hoods of vehicles, and climbing trees without any fear of heights.

He will be missed.

Thanks for existing bub!
