Nick Lane's Toughest Fight

Donation protected
Nick is a fellow employee, friend and all round great guy.
Cancer is a devastating disease which discriminates against no-one.

Nick Lane is a loving husband and father, rugby player, professional golfer, Judo and MMA instructor.

If you don’t know Nick, there is a real possibility you will recognise him from his many years of welcoming people at the doors of Marbella’s finest nightclubs or maybe you have come across him on a golf course competing or instructing, or possibly from his younger days from the Union Street nightclub scene in Plymouth.

Nick represents an often-misunderstood profession of door security, but Nick is the happy go lucky gentleman doorman who never intimidated, always greets clients and fellow staff with a genuine smile and cheeky comment.

The people who know him, know that beyond that smile Nick is a true fighter, who only ever used his skill set when it was absolutely necessary, and Nick was never vindictive.

In total contrast to his night job, Nick’s 2nd passion after his wife Rosa, is golf, a true professional who trained some of the worlds finest in their short game and up until the covid pandemic was instructing some of the world’s greatest emerging young talent through the Elite Golf Academy.

Anyone who has ever encountered Nick, young or old will only have good things to say.

Nick is now facing his toughest fight.

In 2018 his beloved wife Rosa was diagnosed with a stage 3 recurring aggressive cancer and for the past 3 years he has battled alongside her every step of the way, but unbelievably this is not the fight in which he needs help.

Nick fought alongside Rosa on his own, through her continuing pain with the small wins and big losses cancer brings, because at that time Nick was able to both work and care for Rosa and his pride would never let him ask for assistance.

As many of us know especially during recent times life sometimes is not fair or just.

In May 2020 while helping Rosa with her fight, Nick himself was diagnosed with Prostate cancer.

Due to the covid pandemic his emergency surgery was delayed 3 times until January 2021, and during this time he kept this fight to himself, not even telling his family or friends of his plight.

Unfortunately, the surgery was not a 100% success and Nick is currently on a course of chemotherapy to try to control and beat this devastating disease.

It has only been in these last few weeks Nick in his fear for Rosa, not himself, has revealed this massive struggle to a few friends.

This is Nicks hardest battle, he fought Rosa’s cancer alongside her and never asked for help, but

the covid pandemic and his own personal cancer battle has now seen fit to destroy his possibility to currently earn a living.

Medical bills in Spain have consumed all of Nick and Rosa savings and still their battle continues.

The pain and suffering Nick and Rosa have experienced over the last few years is unimaginable except to other cancer survivors and their families.

Nick would never consider asking for help, if you were to look at his facebook page life couldn’t be better, all an act to keep his loving daughters from sharing the burden of his current fight.

In his 58 years of life Nick has never been unemployed and has never once claimed any kind of unemployment benefit or government handout, but Nick is now in desperate need and has fallen into debt.

We suggested help could be found over the internet and with tears in his eyes he has finally consented out of desperation to allow us to try and see what could be done.

We know if you have ever met Nick professionally or socially you will want to help such is the character he is, and if you have never met Nick we assure you, you will struggle to meet a more genuine or helpful person in your lifetime.

We who know him want to see Nick’s smile for a few years more, so we will be extremely grateful for any help anyone can give for that to happen again.

In order for transparency regarding how your donations are handled I feel i should point out that as I set up the fund, funds actually go to me and I then pass 100% of the money raised directly to Nick on a weekly basis for him to use in his and Rosa's continuous battle against this terrible disease.
If you have an doubts as to my integrity or my trustworthiness regarding my ability to handle these funds, please I will not take offence if you feel the need to check me out directly through Nick or Rosa, in fact quite the opposite I would rather you felt safe giving rather than be worried that the 100% of your donation is not going directly to Nick.
