Nick Sarfaty

We are starting a gofundme for Nick Sarfaty, a 21 year old with special needs from Columbus, Ohio. On September 27th Nick lost his mother, who he lived with to cancer. Nick has virtually no family left that is able to help him. Two months prior to her death her health severely declined. She was in and out of the hospital leaving Nick to take care of their house and two dogs on his own. During this time, due to Nick's special needs, anxiety disorder, and eating disorder Nick was unable to maintain the home to livable standards. Nick is a very determined individual and because of this assured everyone in his life the house, and his mother were fine. When his godfather (Eric Russel), neighbor, family friends (the Hoffmans), and myself learned of Nick's mother's death we all went over to find the house in very bad shape. We also learned that individuals were breaking into his home and stealing items. Since then we have notified the authorities, gotten locks on the house, the dogs relocated to a safe place, and most importantly Nick has been cleaned up and placed in a temporary respite home. The ultimate goal is to get Nick back into his home. We want to work with Nick to teach him life skills that he never had the chance to learn. He is very smart (two credits shy of an associate's degree) and we know he is able to learn the life skills he currently lacks. If it is determined he is unable to stay in his home we would like to sell it, with Nick receiving all the money which would be used to provide a more suitable place to live, and meet his basic needs. To do this however, we need to get his home cleaned up. This will take an extreme cleaning service, exterminators, junk removal services, and more. Our initial goal is to raise 10,000 dollars to cover the costs of all these services, as well as refurnish/fix his home, and meet any of Nick's other needs.
