This is for our wonderful friend, Nick Segura. There’s a good chance you’ve bellied up to one of his bars that he built out of his Northside Chicago small business, Proletariat Woodshop. Mikerphone Brewing, Maplewood Brewing, 18th Street Brewing Hammond, Beer Temple, Osito’s Tap, Bàrbaro Taqueria and the former Fischman Public House are all Nick’s incredible handiwork. Despite a Stage 4 cancer diagnosis in 2021, he’s continued to work, fight and push through surgery, chemo, radiation, dietary restrictions, body changes, fatigue, nausea and pain that all come with this ugly territory.
Being self-employed, there’s twice the rent, bills, utilities and insurance, none of which stop coming at you when you need to take time off to recover, receive treatment or deal with the side effects of those treatments. Sometimes, we just need…a break.
I am asking any and all to help make Nick’s cancer journey a little easier for this private, hardworking and talented man. If you’re so inclined, any financial contribution for Nick, his family and his shop is tremendously appreciated. Or, you can say a prayer and help in your own way. All donations will be used to pay current and future medical bills and will also go toward current and future rent for his woodshop and home along with supplementing his income for the jobs he has to pass on when he doesn’t have the strength to take on a new project. I thank you in advance for your time and consideration.
