Medical Brigade Trip to Ethiopia

My name is Nick Merutka and I am a senior at Texas State University in San Marcos, Texas! I am a psychology major with a biology minor and I will be applying to medical school this May. Over the years, I have developed a passion for international healthcare. I have spent a week in Guatemala and a week in Honduras providing medical, dental, and optical care for the people there and I plan on working with Doctors Without Borders when I am a physician.

This year, I have an amazing opportunity to spend a week in Ethiopia for spring break where I will be a part of a team of doctors, nurses, and EMT's delivering much needed medical care to the people of Ethiopia. The people of Ethiopia have virtually no access to trained physicians and there is an estimated one physician to every 100,000 people.

The cost for the trip is $1100 and that includes airfare, food, lodging, and the medications we will be prescribing. The extra money will be used to bring soccer balls, jump ropes, and any other toys the kids of Ethiopia might enjoy.

Any donation is greatly appreciated. Anything you can contribute will go to the great cause of helping the people of Ethiopia who so desperately need it, both medically, and by showing them a little love.
