Nick’s Turtle Creek Memorial

Donation protected
The Schilling family and friends would like to honor Nicholas Charles Schilling with a Memorial structure at Turtle Creek Park boat ramp in Delhi, Iowa on Hartwick Lake (know to locals as Lake Delhi). Nick passed suddenly January 11, 2022 less then a month before his 61st birthday. Those who knew Nick knew that Lake Delhi held a special place in his heart. Nick spent most of his life on the waters of lake Delhi. In 1976 Nick and his father Don built a cabin on the water just west of the dam. Which is still there today. In 1978 to 1979 Nick was part of the Hartwick Husky ski team. From growing up on the water to living just minutes from the water in his later years Nick always had a special connection to the river. Rarely a week would go by that he wouldn’t be out on the water. So many great memories of summers spent cruising up and down the river. We will miss the sound of the “crush “ (his Orange 1972 Correct Craft Mustang) going down the river. Seeing him with his silver hair, dark sunglasses and smiling face. Delhi will continue to be a big part of his family’s life. We are still in talks with Delaware County over what would work for both memorial and communities needs. Donations will go to building some form of structure in his honor.
