Nicky Norwood Memorial Bench

Donation protected
On Wednesday 27th February 2019, Nicky Norwood , darling wife to Leigh and much loved mother to Kayleigh, Rosie and Laurence   passed away, suddenly and unexpectedly. To say we have been devastated would be a massive understatement and we have been taking the time since we lost her, one day at a time, as we try to come to terms with what has happened to our close-knit family.

Just two days before Nicky's untimely death, she had become a Nanny for the first time, to Kayleigh's son Frankie. The photo you see is of Nicky holding Frankie when he was less than a day old - sadly it is one of the only photos we have of Nicky with her Grandson - It has already become one of our most treasured possessions.

One major comfort to us is knowing that when she left us, Nicky was happier than we had seen her for years. She was doing the job she dreamed of, outdoors at her Forest Schools in some stunning weather at the start of that week, she had a close family who loved her as much as she loved them, she had her lovely Ruby and her ginger shadow Wilfie at home and the arrival of her new grandson had just put her in seventh heaven. We have also been assured that she didn't suffer at all when she went.

Nicky was only 59 and It seems so cruel that a person who had so much love for everyone else and who had so much to look forward to over the coming years should have been taken from us so suddenly.

We have been overwhelmed by the wonderful support from our friends and family, who have all been sharing their stories about her, just reiterating what we already knew, just how amazing, kind, loving and generous she was.

We are aiming to commission a 'Memorial Bench' in Pitville Park, one of her favourite places to walk her beloved Ruby. The bench location will be in front of the Aviaries within the Children's play area, we thought that this would be the perfect place bearing in mind all of the children that she had looked after and cared for with so much love throughout her life and career. It will also be somewhere that all Family and Friends can visit and remember our wonderful Nicky.

We thank you for your donations in her memory.
