Hi, my name is Madison. I am 18yrs old and I am doing a fundraiser for my mother, Nicole Bartlett. This year is my senior year of high school and I would have never imagined it to include me making a go fund me account for my mom. My mom is the sweetest person you would ever meet. She is 39yrs old, a wonderful wife, and has been such a blessing to each one of her 3 children. She’s there whenever you need her. Everyone you would ask would say something sweet about her. She is full of kindness and love to everyone she meets. She has been pretty healthy all her life. Around December, she started having pains in her stomach and had alot of trouble going to the bathroom. On February 5, we had to call 911 because my mom lost so much blood trying to use the bathroom! She even fell and passed out twice! We were all so scared! At this moment, we knew there was something more definitely wrong. A colonoscopy was scheduled soon after. On February 19, 2022, my mom was diagnosed with stage 3C colon cancer. We never thought we would be facing the "C" word! At the moment, we are discussing which treatments to take. We have met with one oncologist who seems to think chemo & radiation together to shrink the tumor, and then surgery to cut it out and the inflammed lymph nodes around it. Then another round of chemo to make sure its all gone. The oncologist said there is a great chance, with the tumor being so advanced, that it will either metastasize somewhere else in the body or come back after treatment. We have also looked into Chipsa Cancer Center in Mexico. They have around a 70% success rate. Of course it isnt the traditional chemo/radiation therapy. The thing is, is that the treatment is not covered by insurance, and it costs a lot of money! Their approach is more of a holistic way to shrink the tumor. They will completely change her diet to cancer fighting foods. They will help strengthen her physically, emotionally, and spiritually. It is a big step from regular chemo and radiation, and we believe that it will be worth it. We do not know the total cost of the treatment, but this is a rounded range of it. Even if we choose to do chemo/radiation, this money will help with the cost of being out of work, hospital bills, travel expenses, doctors appointments, gas, testing, food, etc.
