Ride, Run, Fight for Nicole Cobb

Nicole Cobb has been riding and showing horses since she was 14 years old.  After moving to Central Oregon in 1990, she began her own riding program and has helped coutless numbers of children and adults conquer their fears, achieve their riding goals, and realize their dreams.

Nicole was diagnosed with Stage IV breast cancer the day before her 47th birthday.  She started the first of four rounds of chemotherapy during week two of the High Desert Classic in 2014.  Despite all of the horrendous and life disrupting chemo side effects she experienced (like having all her hair fall out at the Thunderbird show), Nicole pushed herself to continue riding, teaching and showing.

Her treatment would also include two surgeries and 6 weeks of daily radiation which she completed just in time to get to the second half of the Thermal Desert series in 2015.

Taking time out for a little fun

A few months prior to her diagnosis, Nicole emabarked on a new journey in life: running!  Her running has kept her mentally powerful and physically robust throughout cancer treatment.  She ran as much as she could tolerate during her treatment and completed her first 5K in April 2015, finishing in 29.12 minutes.

She ran several more races and continued to get faster and more competitive with each race.  In June 2015, she ran the Sunriver Pacific Northwest Challenge winning the female Masters division with a time of 22.36 minutes.   She has won her age group in every race since that time including the Super Hero Race in Rancho Mirage this winter where she won the Masters division and was the second fastest woman overall!

Unfortunately, Nicole was hit with another cancer diagnosis in 2016, only one year after completing treatment for the first cancer.  This time the diagnosis is Stage III breast cancer (the other breast) and a totally different type of tumor from the first cancer.

Just when Nicole's hair had grown back enough for a small ponytail, she faced losing it again, so she took matters in to her own hands and went street punk cool!

Nicole has already completed three chemo treatments but has a long road ahead.  She needs our help and support to cover her out of pocket expenses for the extended  course of treatment she is facing this time around (chemo, surgery, radiation).  Your donations will also help fund her wellness practices like acupunture and nutritional therapy.
