Nicole's Mighty Mountain Llama Load Challenge!

Donation protected

The Woolly Army Needs You!

Do you know anyone who would trek 11 miles over steep mountains, dressed as a llama, whilst carrying the equivalent of the maximum weight that a Llama could carry? Well, we do and her name is Nicole!

And what would drive Nicole to attempt this you may ask? Excellent question! We asked her that too. And this is what she said;
It's all because of the rain! The barn located in our newest site at Basecamp North Lakes is in desperate need of repair, and during periods of heavy rainfall (every other day, thanks Cumbria) the entire barn floor becomes flooded and is completely unusable for storing food and keeping our lovely Alpacas and Llamas safe and dry. Repairing this would allow us more indoor space for the Woolly Army during the rainy seasons, allow us to store more food, reduce our food spending, and most excitingly, will enable us to offer indoor meet and greets so you can hang out with the Woolly Army no matter the weather!

So what exactly is Nicole doing and how can you help? The Newlands Horseshoe is an 11-mile stretch over the peaks of Robinson, Dale Head, Dalehead Tarn, High Spy, Maiden Moor and Catbells with an elevation gain of 1095m. To raise the funds for the barn repair, Nicole will be hiking this with a 22kg weighted jacket, which (taking into account her body weight which is much less than a llama) is the equivalent of the maximum weight that a Llama can carry while trekking (not our llamas they just carry lunch and their favourite fan letters.) She will also be dressed as a llama because she is an unusual kind of person whose idea of fun is something that most people would call punishment. And also because this is how much she loves The Woolly Army.

The funds raised will go directly towards resurfacing the barn floor and implementing new drainage systems to keep the rain outside filling up the lakes where it belongs, reclaiming the space for food storage, meet and greets and indoor safe space for The Woolly Army!

We are so grateful for your support, which allows us to continue our mission of rescuing alpacas and llamas, giving them a caring home for life, and making the outdoors and these amazing animals accessible to all! Please share our campaign with your friends, and family, and on social media to help us repair this space.
