NICU Nurse & Daughter in Hospital with Covid-19

Donation protected
On June 22nd, my sister and niece in Arizona both tested positive for Covid-19. My sister, Janet, is a neonatal nurse who has been working on the front lines since March. When my family received the news, the biggest concern was for my sweet niece, Nina, who is high risk due to existing health conditions. The next day, Janet and Nina both went to the ER with extreme symptoms, including coughing and excruciating body pain. (My sister said it felt like her skin was on fire.) After many hours at the ER, they were finally admitted into the hospital with pneumonia, first Nina and then Janet the following day. The days since have been a whirlwind of emotions as my sister has begun to show improvement but my niece continues to struggle. Because she has developmental disabilities, Nina is unable to adequately communicate what she is experiencing, leading to many more tests to identify how the doctors can help her. Earlier this week, Nina's doctor discovered that her blood count is dangerously low and, while it has improved slightly over the past couple days, this nasty virus is attacking her blood, turning it to a thick sludge that's almost black in color. Her lungs are infected and she has lost significant weight on her already tiny frame.

As if the virus wasn't enough, the financial strain of not being able to work as a nurse is becoming a source of stress and worry.  Janet is currently on sick leave and desperately needs to be free from the virus so she can return to work. I've never organized a GoFund page but a friend suggested I should. This virus has changed all of our lives, but it makes it that much more real when someone you know is battling for their life to recover. I know that many of us are struggling financially as well but, if you can give, I thank you for your generosity to your fellow humans.

Our family has been blessed by prayers and love from many wonderful people.  I want to thank you from the bottom of my heart for your support. My sister and niece are beautiful people and they are going through a lot as they both try to recover and heal from both Covid-19 and pneumonia. Please give if you can. Thank you!!
