NICU reclining chair, donated to the hospital,

Harley was born at just 27 weeks old weighing just 860 g. Whenever a baby is born and put into NICU, the only way you can hold your baby is in one of the hospital grade chairs.

The Royal women’s Hospital in Melbourne only has 20 chairs however  the unit has over 70 beds. This means there are not enough chairs for every child meaning you have to wait for a parent to finish a cuddle before you can hold your baby.

When babies are  born prematurely it’s vital that they have skin on skin contact, this term is called Kangaroo Cuddles.

A recliner is very hard to come by. You also don’t want to take the recliner off another family just so you can have a chance to cuddle your child. 

When Harley had his heart surgery, it was When imperative that he cuddled with us in a recliner. once he was no longer ventilated. I myself have spent every single day in this unit since Harley was born 89 days ago, and whilst we still have a long way to go, Zac and I are incredibly grateful for the amazing care the doctors and and nurses along with the medical team, have provided to our son.

In honour of Harleys due date, being 15 July, I have arranged this go fund me to hopefully raise enough money to purchase one of these chairs that are specially made in Australia, have it shipped to the Royal women’s Hospital and donate it to other families in need just like Harley Zac and I. We plan to put a plaque on it in his name so that we can pay it forward to any other families who find themselves in our situation.

It’s also the least we can do to say thank you to this incredible hospital. They come in beautiful colours and we see this are you having an ever lasting Legacy at this beautiful Hospital. Hopefully when other parents read the message on the plaque , it gives them as well. ♥️
