NICU STAY FOR KEEGAN BANKS
Donation protected
As resistant as I am to ask for help, my newborn baby boys life depends on it.
Keegan Banks McDowell arrived in this world over 3 months early from his due date. On February 15th at 3:02 AM, I gave birth to a fighting machine weighing in at 1lb 3oz and 11 inches in length.
We were given just a few short minutes with him before he was sent approximately 100 miles away to New Hanover Regional Medical Center in Wilmington where their amazing NICU staff are now handling his health care and currently giving him treatment regarding his micro-prematurity.
Micro preemies are the most premature babies of all with 23-weekers such as Keegan having an average of 10-50% survival rate. They’re almost certain to face long stays in the NICUs; we are expected to be residing at New Hanover for no less than 3 months.
With Keegan’s early arrival being so unexpected, we just weren’t given the amount of time we would have preferred to be prepared. I myself have had to take an early leave from my job with no certain date of returning as my sons health and current state of life is my main and only concern.
The best medicine for Keegan’s health at this time is having his mother with him. I am not originally one to seek help from others but I must put my sons needs as top priority and ask that you support myself and my family during this moment of grief, uncertainty and test of strength.
Donations will go towards assistance with gas and transportation to travel to and fro, bills due at residence as the lights and water must remain on for when we bring our tiny fighter home (and we WILL bring him home) food, toiletry and other items for myself as I am dealing with postpartum effects and anything else we may need during our prolonged stay in the NICU.
I would like to THANK YOU all in advance for any and all help that has already been given and anything we may receive in the future. No worries to anyone who may not be able to donate to this fund but we do ask that everyone remember Mr. Keegan Banks, our tough little man, in your prayers, speak his name and ask God to cover and protect him during these adverse conditions.
”I feared because it was too early, I cried because it was too soon.. yet I underestimated the strength in one as small as you” #KEEGANTOUGH
