NICU Support for Baby Anthony: 24 Week Premie

Hello, my name is Will and pictured is my son Anthony born at 24 weeks old. My wife Patty became pregnant late April. Last weekend on Sept 23rd, 2023 she began having bleeding and pains while on a work trip in Austin, TX (we’re based in San Antonio). The pain became unbearable so she called me immediately to come meet her. A Good Samaritan took her to a hospital in Austin and we met up to find she was in labor. My son was born via emergency C-section and immediately placed into NICU care, then transferred via ambulance with my wife back to San Antonio. He had a brain bleed on both sides of his head, and needed to be placed on a ventilator as all babies do at that age. There is a decent hope that he will survive, but he will need several months of NICU support at the hospital before he’s ok to come home to us. He will need to be in the hospital

until at least his original due date (in January!). Any future disabilities are unknown at this stage. We must continue to ride this emotional rollercoaster of hospital visits until the end where we hope and pray he’ll be ok. We’re thankful to have insurance from our jobs, but the out of pocket bills and miscellaneous expenses that come with months of hospital care will still be enormous.
