Nicu ward at Norfolk and Norwich Hospital

Donation protected
Hi, my name is katelin, I am raising funds for nicu (neonatal intensive care unit). Just before Christmas we found out that I was pregnant with Monochorionic Diamniotic Twins, this is called monozygotic twins who share both the chorionic and amniotic sacs. In other words, there’s one placenta and one amniotic sac for both babies.

This type of pregnancy has lots of different complications so that meant having to be scanned every fortnight. At our 22 week scan the sonographer had concerns of sIGUR (selective intrauterine growth restriction) for one of the twins which was alot smaller than the other. We was then referred to London euston hospital and had an appoiment the next day. We was diagnosed with type 2 sIGUR and the start of TTTS (twin to twin transfusion syndrome) and needed 2 scans a week 1 in London and 1 in Norwich. At 25 weeks we had a appointment with nciu who told us the survival rate for the twin with SIGUR wouldn't be very high as she was under 500g if she would make it over 500g then survival rate would be challenging but would mangeable.

We had a scan at 26 weeks were we were told that the ttts was progressing that I would deliver the twins between 28/32 weeks continued to have 2 scans a week one in London another at Norwich.

28 weeks came and on the Thursday London scan, they told us things are looking worse and I need steriod injection now and one 24hrs later at Norwich also to be amitted into hospital as it now becoming dangerous for me carrying the twins as things were escalating.

Twins were born at 28+1 via emergency c-section Maisie weighing 2lb 5 and Millie weighing 1lb 6. Both girls were getting ventilated. They had lots of wires everywhere.
We had alot of complications with Maisie at the being, she has lung disease, she needed to go on a different sort of ventilation that kept her lungs open also had a hole in the same lung and needed a chest drain. NCIU team are amazing, they work so quickly and well, they keep us updated on everything all the time. The girls are currently 5 weeks old gain weight, they ate now off ventilation and on vapourfirm. We would really appreciate any donations to go to Nicu. They have done so much for us as a family.
Thank you Hi, my name is katelin, I'm raising funds for nicu (neonatal intensive care unit). In London we had to make a decision to either stop the blood flow to smaller twin 1, so that twin 2 would have a greater survival chance. Or we could carry on as we were and just stay to the 2 weekly scans. We opted to try for as long as possible to keep both babies alive. As long as there were 2 heart beats we kept going.
We had a scan at 26 weeks were we were told that the ttts was progressing that I would need to deliver the twins between 28/32 weeks. So we continue with the 2 weekly scans.

28 weeks came and on the Thursday when we was in London having the routine scan, they told us things are looking worse and that I need to have a steriod injection straight away in london and one 24hrs later at Norwich. Also having to be amitted into norwich hospital as it was now becoming very dangerous for me and the twins.

They have done so much for my babies in nicu as well and all of us as a family. We will be forever greatful for what they have done/doing.
We would really appreciate any donations as little or as much as possible anything would be a blessing. Apologies for such a long post.
