Night Moves: Live Grain From Maine
Donation protected
Night Moves is a one-woman community-oriented bakery committed to baking exclusively with stone-ground, sustainably-grown regional grain and natural leavening.
Connected to a growing international movement to return to traditional grain-growing, milling, and bread-baking methods, Night Moves seeks not only to provide healthful staples to the greater Portland community, but also to promote the importance of sustainable grain for public health, and to connect regional grain growers to a wider consumer audience.
Since inception in March of 2016, Night Moves has become a staple on the menus of Portland’s acclaimed farm-to-table food scene, encouraging chefs and restaurateurs to think of regional grain as fresh food. Baker Kerry Hanney continues to carry out the mission by teaching workshops with Maine Grain Alliance and consulting with fellow bakers all over the country in utilizing sustainable grain and slow fermentation. She is currently raising funds to purchase a larger, more efficient oven, a mixer, and a stone mill for milling small lots of grain purchased directly from farmers.
With your help Night Moves will be able to expand production to meet demand, hire employees, and teach more workshops to consumers and businesses alike in partnership with the Maine Grain Alliance. With the right equipment, more healthy grain will make its way to more Maine communities.
All donations earn you bread shares, available once the oven is up and running: 2 loaves for $20, 5 for $50 and 10 for $100 ❤️
Thank you so much for your support!
Night Moves would not be possible without the visionary work of Maine Grains, the Maine Grain Alliance, Grange Corner Farm, Songbird Farm, and Crown O' Maine, as well as the support from the incredible Greater Portland community: Maple's, Oxbow, The Farm Stand, Drifter's Wife, Duckfat, Little Giant, Portland Hunt + Alpine, A&C Grocery, The Cheese Iron, and Tandem Coffee.
