Nikita Nevatia

As most of you may know, Nikita fell ill a couple of weeks ago. Unfortunately, she was diagnosed with Guillane-Barre Syndrome  (GBS), something classified as an auto-immune disease where your own body attacks your nerves.

About what she's going through: She was in ICU for 6 days, then the general ward for a few more, before finally being sent home. While she and her family are thrilled she's home, she's had to relearn to walk, sit, use her arms, etc. Physical therapists go to the house three times a day to help her with this effort. So far, the PTs believe she'll recover quickly, which is great news. According to the doctors, her recovery could be anywhere from 4 weeks, to one year (bet you can't guess what she's pushing for). Also, she's strong-willed and a fighter, and doesn't plan on being down for longer than she has to be.

Super scary! And the great news is that she's on the mend; as you can see by the picture with Gordon. Thank you to those who contributed to Nikita's "Get Well Wishes Fund", used to let her and her family know that we've been thinking of her, flowers, protein (in the form of a lot of nuts), and an iPad Pro with Pen to help her with her manual dexterity (fingers are the last to fully recover).

We have people continuing to reach out and want to help. Thank you!

Since we know she's going to have a massive amount of medical expenses (hospital bills, physical therapy, medications, etc.), some of which may not be covered by insurance, we've started this GoFundMe to help raise funds for Nikita's medical expenses.

Update from Gordon's visit on April 1, 2019

Greetings:

I had the pleasure of visiting Nikita yesterday in Chennai and had lunch with her family.  Nikita is doing well with her Physical Therapy and is getting stronger and improving daily.  Her next appointment is on 30-April and she is hoping the Dr. will clear her to come back to the US.  She was in great spirits, and you can tell that she is pushing hard to get back to normalcy.

As you can imagine, this was a very stressful 30 days for their entire family.

Gordon

As Nikita's manager at Apttus, I will be withdrawing the funds into my own personal bank account. In turn, I will be delivering the cash to Nikita directly.
