Nikki's Dream to Become a Mother
Donation protected
“Cancer is stealing her chance to have a baby, but with your help, she can still become a mother.”
On Thursday, February 23rd, 2017, my brother’s 29 year old girlfriend heard the most devastating news from a doctor that a young woman can hear. “I’m very sorry Nicole, but your results from the polyp didn’t come back benign. You’ve been diagnosed with LOW GRADE ADENOSARCOMA which is a rare form of cancer.”
The definition is:
LOW GRADE ADENOSARCOMA: Endometrial Cancer
· Cancer in the lining of the Uterus.
· Rare
· Less than 3% of all Uterine Cancers
· Most common symptom: heavy vaginal bleeding
· Cause: Several speculated but unknown
· Mostly found in post-menopausal women but becoming more common in young adults and some evidence in early teenage girls.
· High survival rate with hysterectomy
· Unable to become pregnant
Her hysterectomy is scheduled for the beginning of April.
Both Nikki and my brother are devastated. This was most definitely not in their plan for their life together.
A decision had to be made quickly and so Nikki is currently undergoing the incredibly expensive process of retrieving some of her eggs. They will be frozen so that someday a surrogate can be used and they have the chance to have a biological child.
Sadly, none of this is covered by insurance. Nikki has been draining her savings account to cover these costs.
They are not the kind to ask for help, so I’m asking for them. Please give generously to help alleviate the stress, worry and financial burden of the health care expenses, lost wages and the future cost of a surrogate.
Please spread the word to help these two wonderful people have a child of their own!
