Niko and Casey ❤️

Donation protected
Together with our family, we are asking for some help from our friends and loved ones.

A little about sweet Niko.

He was diagnosed at just two years old with autism. He is non-verbal, but uses a laptop device to communicate and even changes the tv channels that way! He is a whiz on these electronic devices. He’s an amazing kid and continues to astonish his family every day. Casey has fought long and hard and consistently advocates for her son and fights to ensure that Niko is treated well and with the respect and kindness that we all deserve.

Niko has suddenly fallen quite ill. He was admitted with jaundice and super high liver enzymes. He is just ten years old. He was transferred to Lurie Children’s Hospital for diagnosis and care. Ultimately, he had to undergo a liver biopsy.

By process of elimination, the doctors are fairly confident Niko has activated T cell hepatitis. A serious attack to the liver (cause unknown), but one that his body is fighting off fairly well (considering many end up in total liver failure in the early stages) and should not reoccur. Recovery can take several weeks/months, but as long as his levels stabilize over the rest of this week, they hoping to be recovering at home soon. He will need to go for weekly labs and be monitored closely outpatient for awhile, as there is risk of the T-cells attacking his bone marrow.

However…his levels have started to rise again.

As any of you can imagine, Casey has been by his side for the duration. Unfortunately, life continues to happen…and bills and responsibilities keep coming. Casey is a small business owner, and this has been very difficult.

They have an amazing support system, but help is needed. Whether in a prayer or in a small donation, we are asking for your help. Casey is an incredible and loving mama, and she needs to be by his side through all of this, and every bit helps.

Thank you in advance for helping this family recover without financial worry and burden causing even more stress.

Update from Casey:
Thank you so much to those that are praying and that have donated. I’m not the person to ask for help and I am stubbornly independent to a fault. I’ve never collected a day of unemployment, even in this crazy economy. This is different, we’ve been in the hospital for two weeks, and it doesn’t appear Niko will be going home soon. I don’t know HOW between personal and business expenses that I could possibly get through this alone, being unable to leave his side for more than short and infrequent breaks. I literally have not been further than a 5 minute walk from his hospital room since day 1, and that will not change. Mentally, physically, emotionally, and financially exhausted is an understatement. So again, I thank you all so much for taking the time and effort to help me and Niko through this incredibly challenging time. Prayers and love for my baby are just as valuable, if not more valuable, than any monetary donation, so please keep sending loving energy and prayers.
