On May 1st, 2021, at the age of 17, we lost an amazing young man and beloved Martin County High School  football player.  He was a loving son, brother, friend, devote Christian, and inspirational teammate. Nik’s  passing was sudden, and has left those who love him heartbroken.

To know Nik, was to know LOVE in the purest form.  He always had a big smile, encouraging words to offer and a giving spirit.

We all were so proud of all of his accomplishments as a student-athlete, but this year he really excelled. In football, he made 1st Team All Area -Offense and was MCHS O-Lineman of the year. He was DECA President and CTE Student of the Year for the Sports Marketing Academy, all while earning a 4.0 for the 1st semester. He planned on majoring in Sports Management at FSU.

Coach Lawrynas taught us many skills, moves , plays and lessons on the football field. The take away wasn’t about playing ball though. It was about being a family , having each other’s back and the bond of brotherhood. There’s not one player who will ever pick up a football and not look up and remember the humanity and unity we learned from Nik and Coach L.

We also learned that students are powerful and can make a difference in life no matter the platform.

Although we were taught to take a knee when one of our own falls. We will also RISE for our heavenly brother.

There simply isn’t a playbook for this devastating loss. There’s no film to review. There simply aren’t words. But we will huddle together , link our arms together tight and make sure we keep the Lawrynas family upright and supported.

O-Lineman, Nik. 

Many of you have asked how you can help support his family as they navigate darkness. This is one way so they can prepare to plan his memorial.
