Nishan Patel Racing Wheelchair

Hi my name is Nishan Patel. I am 30 years old raised in Middletown, NJ. I was born with a rare disability called Femoral Hypoplasia Unusual Faces a syndrome. On September 5th at approximately 4:30pm On my way home from work I had the scariest experiences of my life. I was rear ended. I will never forget the sound of a hummer hitting me and just the sound of glass shattering. Glass went from the back all the way to the front of my Nissan Ultima. Taillights were smashed. My trunk was not even openable without some assistance. His car was leaking fluids.

Saying I was lucky is such an understatement. Lucky for everyone involved. Myself and the person who hit me were both able to walk away from the accident with little to no physical injuries. Unfortunately for me. My car and the items in my car were severly damaged. My racing chair has taken too much damage to the point where it is unusable, I am still trying to get the glass shards out of the frame. The fenders are dented and cracked, my carbon fiber corima wheels are all banged up. I will also need to replace my push rims, and get a new set of tires and let’s not even talk about how mangled the back of my chair is. Almost none of this will be covered by my insurance. As you can expect these costs add up. This is coming at the worst possible time as the last few months I have been training for the Philly Half Marathon in November which I will now have to unfortunately pull out of which is nothing but heartbreaking. This is also big Paralympic year. I was hoping to make some huge noise this year in the T52 classification. With your help I am hoping to gather the funds to be able purchase the necessary equipment needed to get back to racing again. With this equipment I will also be able to go back and help coach my junior team and help build their independence both in sports and in life. Any donation would be greatly appreciated.
